Indians once roamed this soil
Great and hardy pioneers dug their faces in the dirt
In sweat and toil
Waste not for want this hallowed mirth

Author‘s Note: Inspired by Rolvaag’s Giants in the Earth in my high school days. it was a book about the perils the pioneers braved to settle America. How does one begin to measure the value-added to life from reading?
