A SUNG SONG

Once a song is sung

A poem read

A word said

A bell rung

A clock struck

Does the sound ever strop?

Author’s Note:

Reader: “What does the last word mean?”

Author: “What do you think it means?”

Reader: “Stop, sort of. Though it’s spelt strop.”

Author: “Exactly!”

Reader: “Why did you misspell it?”

Author: “Because I wanted to. It seemed to fit quite snuggly. It sort of catches the mind. I’m not quite sure music ever stops.”

Author: “What does it mean to you?”

Reader: “Stop.”

Author: “Exactly, but in a different sort of way.”

Author: “Did you notice the right handed guitar was being played left handed? It’s how Elizabeth Cotton invented ‘Cotton Picking Music’ a way back aways.”

Author: “Things aren’t always what they seem at first strop. Look again.”
