There have been clans tribes and family and folk
Who lived on the land
Th land referred to as
Appalachia
No utilities in those sacred hills
In the olden days
Just centuries of folk
Making it
Outside the crowds
Life’s basic survival skills
They learned and knew them well
there were lots of stews and roasted game on an open flame
Most recently Appalachians
And a culture came into it’s own
As a separate and unique culture for sure
Survival skills? Yep!
Not many really know Appalachians
Racists often write them off as
Simple ignorant hill people
The diaspora of Appalachians north
Undergirded the Industrial Revolution in this Nation
They were the tinkerers, the tradesmen
Entertainment heck yes
Hoop rolling and
Throw in hand clapping
foot stomping
On the wooden porch
A banjo, a washboard, a washtub bass and such
Their entertainment’
Heered for miles down the hollers
Hollering and hooting
Big smiles allround
Of course homade
Liquid fire in a mason jar
Accompanied a good
Full moon hootenanny!
Fools? No wise fools
Living off the land
Where’s they come from

Authors Note: Appalachians are oft referred to as dumb hillbillies by righteous effete narcissistic northern racists whose heads are up their ass when it comes down common sense life skills, brilliant entrepreneurs, them so called hillbillies!
