SMELL THE SMOKE

Obscured Appalachians

The air thickens around us,

Tiny airborne ash particles,

Belie distant danger,

Where are my mountains high?

Smoke obscured,

Witness to multiple uncontrolled wildfires

With scampering wildlife,

And people

In its path.

Who? Why? How?

We pray🙏

Author’s Note: Western North Carolina has been hit now with two of the Nation’s largest disasters within the past six months: Helena and now thousands of acres of major wildfires of unknown origin. Makes one wonder? Who? What? How? DE?Why?
