THE INVITE

Updated: Dec 27, 2024

A chair,

Papa,

Please

Pull up

Late night.

Why of course

I’m there

For my favorite,

Chai Tea

Thee

And I.

I Tesser

Mile upon miles of miles

Through portals

Unseen

Too be

But for a moment

With she

Who invites me

To sip tea

Chai tea

Indeed

Late night

And talk

And talk

And talk

And talk.

And talk

Into the wee

You see,

Laur,

With me

Everything’s

A poem

I can’t shake it

Take it

Anymore

HEEELLPPP 😂

Author’s Note: Late night, Christmas night around midnight, Lauren, my granddaughter texts me from way up Chi-town, “Oh Papa, pull up a chair wont ya?” My advice is never turn down a grandchild.

Cheers! You’re a natural. Got to see this poem come to life in real time — a treat!
