THE PATIO

ree

And

Filled with people

family and folk

Lively chatter laughter

Lively joke

We gathered and garnered

As life-light snuck by

Decades now

Peeps come and gone

Family all grown

Generations

Atoned

Now sit me here

In same wickered chair

Same tiled patio floor

Backyard and bushes

    overgrown

Staring out at

Friends gone before

Years decades or so

Several grey beared labs

‘Av layed quiet at my side

Me alone

Alone now

Wondering

Wondering

Wondering

Wondering

Where did time go?

Carl Sandburg Writer 2023

Author’s Notes: Psychologically, wondering is a healthy exercise of the mind. Much like sleep is reparative, so wondering allows us to catch up to our busy lives. Wondering reconstitutes reality. It’s much like stretching a rubber band, then relaxing the tension. We sort of catch up with ourselves. So along with journaling, practice wondering. It slows time down.
