Keep one’s eye
Diligent
On the sky
As weather draws nigh
For even gentle rain
For weeks
Can be deceptive
Over your shoulder
A dark cloud drops in
With abundance of
Lightning, and
Gusty crisp wind
I was awakened
Early morn
Forewarned
By Helena herself
Her eye on Asheville
Her rain soaked winds
Brought destruction and death
And death and destruction
As the mud slides
And the creeks rise!!

Carl Sandburg Writer 2023
Author’s Note: literally jillions of trees in a 200 mile radius were uprooted by 99 mph winds. Some rivers in these Appalachian valleys rose 60 feet taking all with it. Whole towns were completely washed away. The environment remains toxic. Let us be thankful for neighbor helping neighbor. Let us continue to pray for those who lost EVERYTHING, and family. They are without water and roads and houses and belongings yet today🙏
